There is no specific route, but the general direction of your tour is determined by the size of your group and certain restrictions.
The tour will travel within the Mile Square of downtown Indianapolis to areas such as the Wholesale District, Market East District and The Canal & White River State Park district. Tours can also visit the surrounding neighborhoods and Historic districts.
Where does my tour start?
All tours depart from from locations in the mile square. Ask about your preferred pick up point.
Do I need to reserve the wagon in advance?
Yes. All Big Blue Wagon tours are Reservation Only. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.
What does the Big Blue Wagon provide?
Trained and certified Coach Driver with a lovable and sturdy draft horse
LED light display after sunset
Surround sound system for music and/or historic guided tour
Large drink cooler that fits 76 cans plus ice

What should I wear or bring?
Pay attention to the weather forecast and bring appropriate clothing, whether it be a light jacket, or even a warm blanket in the evening. No blankets are provided.
Can the carriage fit more than 6 people?
No more than 6 adults are allowed. We may allow for 2 children additional with approval.
Is there a weight limit per person to ride?
Can I bring glass?
No, glassware is strictly prohibited. Cans or plastic cups only.
Can we bring snacks or other food?
Sure! But please clean up all trash upon exiting the carriage.
Can we bring decorations or party favors?
Of course! But no additional time will be provided with the carriage before or after the tour, so decorations must be minimal, as this will be part of your reserved ride time. Streamers and ribbons are okay, but NO balloons. Thank you.
Is the Big Blue Wagon a safe attraction for my family?
Yes, the Big Blue Wagon is designed with the safety of its passengers in mind. The wagon features bright LED lights so we can see and be seen throughout the city, even into the late hours of the night. The wagon is equipped with functioning turn signals, emergency flashers, brake lights, running head lamps, and a slow-moving vehicle reflector sign.
The Big Blue Wagon also features a solid wooden staircase and hand rails to assist you in boarding and exiting the carriage.
We set a minumum age of 10 years old to ride the carriage, so that riders may fit safely into the bench-style seats.
Our sturdy wooden carriage was quality hand-crafted and designed by Amish artisans right here in the United States.
Do you operate if it's raining?
The Big Blue Wagon operates rain or shine---unless severe. The moon roof canopy will keep the rain out of the carriage. We also feature roll-down clear vinyl rain panels an another optional protectant against side-blowing rain. In the instance of severe weather, your group organizer will be notified of cancellation and be given the option for reschedule or cancellation. The operation call will be made by Blue Ribbon Carriages regarding safety of passengers and staff. We will give you as much notice as we can.
Can we bring our own party music?
Yes! Our surround sound system is set up to play from a bluetooth electronic device. If your phone or tablet is equipped with music, feel free to let our driver know you'd like to use it. No explicit music is allowed.
